GUIDE TO CHANEL: BEIGE CLAIR VS DARK BEIGE CAVIAR
Posted onThe Chanel Classic Caviar Flap is released in fresh new colourways every season. Some are highly sought after and worth holding out for, as they are a proper investment that will continue to gain value over time. Certain colours also become iconic, turning into classic favourites among fans.
Chanel Beige Clair
Such is the case for Chanel's Beige Clair – a neutral, ivory-leaning tone of beige that is highly popular among fans. First introduced for the Cruise 2009 collection, Chanel soon added beige Clair to their permanent line (a classic colour available every season) before being discontinued in 2016. However, the discontinuation only lasted two years due to the popularity of the colour, and Chanel soon reintroduced it back into the permanent line.
Despite being a part of the permanent line, a Classic Flap in Beige Claire in Caviar has been very difficult to track down and purchase in stores – it is so rare that your best bet at landing one would be via the resale market.
Chanel Dark Beige
The sought-after Dark Beige colour is popular among collectors. Rendered in a darker, warmer tone with caramel undertones, this ten-series version of the Dark Beige is scarce to find.
This particular shade of dark beige was released for the 2005-2006 production year and is more camel-toned than the Beige Claire.
It is also highly sought after as it features 24k gold-plated hardware. But unfortunately, Chanel has since discontinued the production of bags with 24k gold-plated hardware; hence this colourway and hardware combination has become a rare unicorn.
As with all vintage Chanel bags, this unicorn collector piece is crafted with Chanel's old-school craftsmanship techniques and has a sturdy structure.
Chanel Beige Clair vs Dark Beige
Beige Clair and Dark Beige are considered the holy grail for classic Chanel colours. Get the whole idea about the differences in tone and look of these two trendy shades by watching our Instagram Reel below.
Besides these two popular colours, Chanel also carries their classic flaps in other shades of beige worthy of mentioning. With different shades and versions of seasonal beige shades released annually, the colour may also differ depending on the leather texture or material used.
