DECLUTTERING LUXURY HANDBAGS: 3 EASY STEPS
Posted onNew Year, New Bag Collection
Head into the new year with a fresh disposition and declutter your luxury bag collection. Not only does decluttering free up some closet space, you can also consign your items and get some seed money for another bag that aligns more with your current tastes.
Letting go of a designer item you’ve shelled plenty on can be a difficult – some may even say, heartbreaking – process. Here are 2 key dos and don’ts to take note of when you’re decluttering your luxury handbags.
DOs:
- Let go of the handbags that aren’t a good fit for your lifestyle. Whether it’s due to size, accessibility, weight, or design, a bag that isn’t functional for your needs just isn’t going to work.
- Curate your collection objectively. Although some handbags may hold sentimental value, holding on to items for the sake of it can, over time, lead to unnecessary hoarding. If you find that a handbag is collecting dust in the closet, or that you have to force yourself to keep it in your rotation of outfits, it’s a good sign to let it go.
DON’Ts:
- Focus on the bags you’re getting rid of, not the ones you’re actually keeping. Think about the bags you’re deciding to keep instead and how they add value into your life.
- Let guilt guide you. Many of us may struggle with getting rid of the bags that cost us a lot of money, or bags that were a gift from someone special. Ask yourself if the bag still complements your style and if you'd actually wear it out. If the answer is a firm no, give yourself the permission to let it go (and consign it so somebody else can love it better!) instead of letting it take up space in your closet.
Last but not least, don't be overwhelmed. Relax and remember that decluttering will help you gain so much more freedom in owning less. Approach the decluttering process with a positive frame of mind.
