HOW TO STORE YOUR DESIGNER BAGS

Posted on

Storing your handbags properly is essential to maintaining the longevity and value of any luxury handbag. Keep your designer purse protected from dust, dirt, and light to prevent staining, discoloration, or loss of shape.
Refer to a list of expert tips below on the best ways to maintain your handbag's pristine condition while storing them.

DOs

1. Wipe your handbag with a damp or dry cloth, depending on the material. We suggest emptying your bag of its contents to remove any loose dust or dirt before stashing them on a bookshelf.
2. Pack the bag back in a dust bag to keep dust and mould away. Pillowcases in white or cream (to avoid discolouration and staining) will also work if you can't find a dust bag.
3. Keep your handbags stuffed adequately to maintain their shape. Take a look at our comprehensive designer bag stuffing guide here.
4. Wrap any exposed hardware with protectors or stickers to prevent indentations on the bag and hardware scratches.
5. Bags in humid weather should be aired 24 hours in an air-conditioned room to prevent mould.

    Don'ts

    1. Hang your bags. Hanging your bag causes it to lose shape and wears out the handles or straps.
    2. Store them in a place under direct sunlight or harsh artificial lighting. Keep your luxury bags in a cool, dark environment; Water vapour—often caused by heat—can build within the leathers, causing cracking or fading.

There you have it! Follow these simple dos and don'ts, and you'll watch the lifespan of your designer bags extend significantly. Get more wear out of your favourite luxury bags on rotation, and also fetch the best prices on the resale market with these important tips!
